Food security hots up

Climate change could cause global crop yields to fall by the 2030s, much sooner than expected. Research combining 1700 previous studies suggests that warming of only 2 °C is enough to seriously damage crops in temperate and tropical regions. That level of warming was previously thought to be relatively harmless to agriculture (Nature Climate Change, doi.org/rw9).
