M&F: What’s your diet like?

JH: I’ve just started working with Phil Learney on that as well so I’ve got this horrific diet at the moment. It’s six meals a day. I’ve got a cool box to take everywhere with me and I’m weighing and measuring all my food. It’s a very clean diet; the only exciting thing in there is I get to have a cup of my Angry Squirrel Coffee with some coconut oil in the morning. That’s about it! I’ll carry on with that throughout the season with a few tweaks on match day. The idea is to get the best diet I can. I’ve always worked with great nutritionists like Matt Lovell but sometimes it’s been team oriented and I haven’t necessarily been able to tailor it down.

M&F: What does a typical daily meal plan look like? JH: At the moment it looks something  like this...
Wake up: Greens drink, probiotics  and fish oils Meal 1: 200 g red meat and a cup of Angry Squirrel Coffee with coconut oil and one of my Hades pre-training fat burners Meal 2: 200 g chicken, meat or white fish, with 300 g potatoes and unlimited green vegetables Meal 3: Same as meal 2 except with brown rice or quinoa instead of potatoes Meal 4: Same as meal 2 Meal 5: Same as meal 2 but with  sweet potato Before bed: 2 scoops protein, 15 g glutamine, a greens drink and a cup  full of oats.
